Empowering Communities Through Disaster Response and Recovery Initiatives

Sachal Welfare Organization (SWO) has played a critical role in disaster response and recovery, especially during the devastating floods that have affected Jacobabad and surrounding districts in recent years. We have provided emergency relief, healthcare, shelter, and long-term rehabilitation support to flood-affected families in some of the hardest-hit and underserved rural areas of Sindh.

Shelter & NIFs nitiatives

Sachal Welfare Organization (SWO) provided life-saving shelter and essential non-food items (NFIs) to families who lost their homes and belongings in Jacobabad and surrounding areas.

Our relief efforts included:

• Distribution of emergency tents, tarpaulins, and plastic sheets for temporary shelter

• Provision of blankets, bedding, and mosquito nets

• Supply of cooking utensils, hygiene kits, and clothing to affected families

Health & Hygiene Programs

Sachal Welfare Organization (SWO) actively took part in the dewatering of submerged areas in Jacobabad and nearby villages. With the support of IOM. SWO deployed water pumps and machinery to drain stagnant floodwater from residential communities, farmlands, and access roads.

This critical intervention helped:

• Prevent the spread of waterborne diseases

• Restore safe living conditions

• Enable resumption of local agriculture

• Reopen schools and basic infrastructure

Empowering Youngsters Through Skill Development Initiatives

Recognizing the high unemployment and poverty levels in Jacobabad and rural Sindh, Sachal Welfare Organization (SWO) launched its Skill Development Project to empower young people with practical skills and livelihood opportunities.

Through this initiative, SWO provides:

• Vocational training in trades such as tailoring, electrician work, mobile repairing, computer literacy, and handicrafts

• Life skills and soft skills sessions to improve confidence, communication, and workplace readiness

• Job placement support and small startup toolkits for selected trainees

Cash For Work Project

Sachal Welfare Organization (SWO) initiated a Cash for Work Project to support vulnerable families in Jacobabad while restoring community infrastructure.

This project provided temporary employment to flood-affected individuals, allowing them to earn a dignified income by contributing to vital recovery tasks such as:

• Clearing debris and restoring access roads

• Rehabilitating water channels and irrigation paths

• Repairing public spaces, schools, and sanitation systems
